Password Reset Instructions

GHC-SCW will be completing a password reset for all employees on the morning of Monday, January 29. This password reset will ensure that our systems are fully secure and will allow us to begin resuming normal operations. Please plan to follow the instructions below:

  1. Report to your primary work location between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. (or as directed by your supervisor) on Monday morning.
    1. For those who work primarily off-site, report to your typical on-site work location.
  2. Be prepared with either your employee ID or a photo ID (e.g., driver’s license).
  3. New temporary passwords will be distributed on paper at a centralized location at your primary work site and you will have to complete your password reset process before you can resume work.
    1. Plan to bring your laptop or workstation on-site with you to complete the password reset process, if you have one.

If you arrive at your primary work location and your temporary password is not there, call the Service Desk at 608-441-3982. The Service Desk will walk you through the password reset process with your on-file security questions.

For those employees that access the Virtual Private Network (VPN) from a remote location, plan to work from your primary on-site work location for the foreseeable future as we work through security testing of the VPN.

If you have further questions, reach out to your manager or Senior Leader.

Rapid Return to Administration

Following the cyber security incident this past week, VPN and Remote Access will be unavailable. We are not sure how long it will be unavailable, so anyone who relies on VPN or Remote Access will need to return to the office temporarily. If your work requires you to be connected through either of these methods, you will need to be onsite to access required resources as they become available.

In preparation for a rapid return to the Admin building, please review the following details on what will be necessary bring with you as we find ways to continue our important work.

  • If you have a GHC desktop computer at home:
    • Workstation (plus power supply)
    • Monitor(s) and cables
    • Peripherals (Keyboard, Mouse, USB headset)
    • Cisco phone (as required by your workflow)
  • If you have a GHC laptop:
    • Dock and Monitor or Hub monitor, and cables
    • Peripherals (Keyboard, Mouse, USB Headset)
    • Cisco phone (as required by your workflow)

A good rule of thumb is to bring with you most of what you need to complete your workday.

Remote phones can be used onsite. If your phone is required for your work, bring it with you. (Please instructions below for resetting your phone once onsite.)

How to Connect your Phone On-Site

1. Plug the network cable coming from your desk to the back of the phone.

You will not need to plug in the power adapter that you would use at home.

2. Once the display shows the sign-in screen, press the settings button on your phone.

3. On the Applications screen, press 6 for “Admin Settings”

4. On the “Please select a menu item” screen, press 5 for “Reset Settings”

5. On the “Reset Settings” screen, press 2 for “All Settings”

6. A prompt will appear asking if you would like to proceed with the reset. Press the button on the phone beneath the red “Reset” option on the screen. The phone will reboot.

If you see a “Change Service Mode” message during the process, you can ignore it. Once complete, it will show a message that reads “Device in Home Location” with your extension(s) and the Date/Time.

Also, be prepared for some road bumps during this return to the Administration building on a very short timeline. IT staff will be onsite to do their best to meet your needs. Bringing with you most of the required equipment for your workflows is critical to make this process easier.

If you and your teams have needs, please submit a general request through the ticketing system. If possible, submitting one request for the needs of several employees would be helpful to limit the number of tickets that are coming in. For example, “premium billing needs 2 ethernet cables and 3 surge protectors.”

We are hoping to help make this unexpected change as easy as possible and manage surprises as they arise. Please work with your manager if you are not sure what desk to use while you are back in the office.

Watch for other updates on the website.
